Agents were formally members of Spantenna, who had fought against the aardvarks to prevent them from harming the peaceful elephants. After their defeat and fall at the Battle of Osaka, many agents were killed or taken prisoner. Those that survived sought to share their knowledge, becoming historians. In order to protect their identities, the title ‘agent’ is given to anyone who has knowledge and wishes to share knowledge of the ongoing conflict.
